Following the success of its Windows phones, Finnish phone maker Nokia has launched the much awaited Lumia 525 and 1320 (phablet) at a competitive price of Rs 10,399 and Rs 23,999, respectively.

The smartphone market is abuzz as to whether these two will live up to the expectations.

However, what has drawn more eyeballs is the likeliness, similarities and differences between the siblings – Lumia 520 and 525, the latter being regarded by the company as an improvement from its initial offering.

Let’s take a look at some of the specifications of both Lumia 520 and Lumia 525 to see the similarities and differences.

DISPLAY:

In terms of display, the siblings feature a 4-inch IPS LCD (480×800 pixels) with 233 ppi pixel density and a scratch-resistant glass. Moreover, they have the same dimensions of 119.9 x 64 x 9.9 mm, 75.7 cc (4.72 x 2.52 x 0.39 in) and both weigh 124 gms each. This means, there are no winners and losers in this section.

PROCESSOR:

Again, no winner or loser here as the two siblings feature the same processor – 1GHz dual-core, Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor.

OPERATING SYSTEM:

Microsoft’s operating system Windows Phone 8 saw success with the Lumia series, especially with its budget smartphone Lumia 520. To continue the forward march, Nokia has come up with the latest Lumia 525.

CAMERA:

5MP back camera with Nokia Smart Camera Cinemagraph lens, Panorama lens, Bing vision – features that both the Lumia 520 and Lumia 525 possess. What is perhaps missing is a front camera which the Finnish phone maker could have added to 525 which was missing in the 520 as well. However, the back camera can record a high definition video of 720p at 30fps.
